General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a professional nursing programme designed to prepare students with the knowledge, practical skills, and clinical experience required to provide quality nursing care in hospitals, clinics, community health centres, and other healthcare settings.
General Nursing and Midwifery is a professional nursing programme combining classroom education with practical training and clinical experience.
Candidates who have successfully completed Higher Secondary education (12th standard) may apply, subject to the applicable admission rules and eligibility criteria.
Students receive practical and clinical exposure in hospitals, community health centres, nursing units, and other healthcare settings.
After successful completion of the GNM programme, students can pursue nursing careers in government and private hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, community health centres, healthcare organisations, and other medical institutions.
Qualified nursing professionals may work in areas such as general nursing, medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, maternity care, child health nursing, emergency care, and other healthcare services.
Clinical training is an important part of the GNM programme. Students gain practical experience in patient care, nursing procedures, ward management, community health services, maternal and child health, and other clinical areas.
Students are expected to maintain clinical records, practical assignments, case studies, and other academic documentation as prescribed by the institution.
